How to Create a Successful Youtube Video

There are some wonderful articles on creating good videos for Youtube. Here are a few to get you started:

Software to Use

With the fall in prices of video cameras these days, there's never been a better time to create videos. You can even use a webcam or cell phone, although the quality isn't as good as it could be.

There are plenty of free programs to edit video on computers, one of the easiest being Windows Movie Maker for PCs. It might not be the best program out there, but for creating simple videos with basic effects, titles, credits, transitions, etc, it's a great option. If you're running Windows XP or later, it's already on your computer.

If you're using a Mac, then iMovie comes free on your machine. It's another very good basic choice which offers more than enough to do the trick for this competition.

If you find any really useful programs for making your video, or particularly helpful articles, then please post a quick note on our Youtube group so that others can benefit.

Best of luck in producing your video, and enjoy the process, no matter what you win in the competition!

If you don't want to make a video ...

Then you can be a judge for our competition! We're offering one month of training as a prize for the most active judge of various videos submitted to us. Just join the group as above, and add ratings and favorites, and leave comments on as many entries as you can.

Please do keep them constructive, even if the current video isn't your favorite. People are putting their hearts and souls into this, and taking a risk by displaying their work in public, so please be gentle with them.

Thanks very much!
